You may know Derek Sherinian from keyboard work with Sons of Apollo.
Or Dream Theater.
Or Black Country Communion.
Or Alice Cooper.
Or KISS.
Or Yngwie.
Or Billy Idol.
That’s a pretty impressive resume, but let’s not forget that he has also released 7 solo albums since 1995. His 8th, The Phoenix(Inside Out), will drop on September 18. His first solo endeavour in 9 years, sees Sherinian teaming up (once again) with drummer Simon Philips, bassist Tony Franklin and some pretty heavy hitters in the guitar world: Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal (Sons of Apollo, GnR, Art of Anarchy), Steve Vai, Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society, Ozzy), Joe Bonamassa and Kiko Loureiro (Megadeth).
Derek was nice enough to join Let’s Rock for a quick chat about his beginnings, the guitarists he’s played with, the future of touring, and of course, The Phoenix.
Enjoy!
